teaching ballet

Founded in 1987, Yellowstone Ballet School offers classical ballet classes at our spacious studio in downtown Livingston. We provide both recreational and serious ballet training which develops poise, discipline, agility, confidence and coordination.

Our mission is to provide students of all ages with the skills they need to enjoy music and dance for a lifetime.

Students trained at YBS have been awarded scholarships to the National Ballet of Canada, San Francisco Ballet School, Interlocken School of Arts, Ballet Iowa, Hartford Ballet, and Whitman College. They have been accepted into prestigious ballet programs with the Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance in Monaco, England's Royal Ballet School

Classes

Teddy Bear Ballet - Children ages 3 and 4 years have fun learning dance with their Teddy Bear "Ballerina" or "Stuffie". At the end of the year they may take home their special friend and teach her all they have learned.

Kinderdancing - Students ages 5 and 6 years learn basic ballet technique with the use of scarves, wands, bells, puppets, hobby horses, ribbons, and tambourines. These fun-filled classes ingrain the foundations of ballet into the child's kinesthetic memory with intimidation.

Ballet 1A, 1B - Students ages 6-8 years begin barre work. They master basic arm and leg movements, acquire greater coordination and learn the French ballet terms.

Ballet 2/3/4 - Students age 9 and above begin serious study attending class three times a week. They are able to focus their attention and apply themselves in complicated steps and combinations. They acquire performance skills and are willing to work long hours.

Ballet 5-7 - Students 13 and above concentrate on technique and performance skills. They learn difficult foot work and complicated steps. They perfom solo in dances in the Nutcracker and other productions.

Recreational Class - An intermediate level class for adults and teens.

Jazz/Tap - With Sarah Skofield formerly of Peters Studio of Dance in Maryland. She will teach children, teens and adults basic to advanced tap and jazz technique and routines.
